Larnaca/Cyprus – For the first European Conference in presence since Covid-19, the European CISM nations met in Larnarca on Cyprus from 27 to 30 October 2022.
Captain Spyridon Andriopoulos HN, Acting Vice President Europe welcomed the representatives from 24 of the 42 member countries in the conference room of the Sun Hotel Larnaca on the Mediterranean coast. He addressed special words to the Acting CISM President, Colonel (GS) Dirk Schwede, the Secretary General, Navy Captain Roberto Recchia and welcomed the new Chiefs of Delegation and the new Delegates.
In addition to the review of sporting events and other projects of the years 2021 and 2022, the outlook for the coming years was not to be missed. The European BoD members gave deep insights into their work and the challenges involved. The redesign of the sports calendar was also presented by Captain Jörg Probst, Chief European Liaison Office.
The economic situation, the election of the CISM President, the new building of the CISM HQ and the 78th CISM General Assembly in Moscow were the main topics of the conference, which were not only discussed during the official parts, but also during various sitetalks.
Of course, the cultural part of the conference was not to be missed. The participants were able to explore the capital Nicosia and the conference venue Larnaca under the guidance of a tour guide. They also saw the most beautiful sites and learned about the history of the Mediterranean island.
